Check-in
For: Owners, Managers, Front-desk Staff & Instructors
Check-in records when a member arrives at your studio — whether they're here for a booked class or just using the facility. ClassLift makes check-in fast and tamper-resistant: members prove who they are with a rotating QR code, and every arrival becomes a permanent attendance record that feeds your reports automatically.
Key Concepts
| Concept | Description |
|---|---|
| Check-in | A record that a member arrived at a location at a specific time. Once created, it can't be edited or deleted — a correction is always a new record. |
| Rotating QR code | Each member has a QR code in their app that changes every 30 seconds. Staff or a kiosk scan it to confirm the member's identity. A screenshot of it won't work for long — that's the point. |
| Check-in method | How the arrival was recorded: a staff Scan, a staff Search, a Kiosk, or an Access Control door reader. |
| Booking auto-match | When a member checks in near a class they've booked, ClassLift automatically marks that booking attended — no need to find the booking first. |
| Grace window | How early or late a check-in still counts toward a class (default: 60 minutes before start, 30 minutes after end). |
| No-show | A booked member who never checks in within the window. ClassLift finalizes no-shows automatically and staff can also mark them by hand. |
| Kiosk | A tablet at your entrance where members check themselves in by scanning their QR code or searching their name. |
How it works
- A member arrives and opens their rotating QR code in the ClassLift app.
- They're identified — staff scan the code (or search the member's name) from the front desk, or the member scans it themselves at a kiosk.
- ClassLift records the check-in and looks for a class the member booked at this location within the grace window.
- If a booking matches, it's marked attended. If not, the arrival is still recorded as a facility visit.
- Attendance updates everywhere — the class roster shows who's checked in, and your attendance reports update automatically.
Where to find it
- Front-desk check-in: click the scan icon (Check in a member) in the top bar of the back office — it's available from every screen.
- From a class: open a class on the Schedule and check booked members in right from the roster.
- Kiosk: a self-service check-in station members use on a tablet at your entrance.
