Real-world compliance and data situations.

1. Publishing a liability waiver

Situation: Every new member must sign a liability waiver before their first class.

Setup steps:

  1. Under Documents, click New document, title it Liability Waiver, paste the text, and keep Required on.
  2. Create document — new members are now asked to sign it before they can participate.
  3. To see who's signed, open a member's profile Documents tab.

2. Updating a policy everyone must re-acknowledge

Situation: You've changed your cancellation policy and need every member to re-agree.

Setup steps:

  1. Open the policy's menu → Publish new version and confirm.
  2. It moves to the next version; every member must re-sign before participating again.
  3. Members see the re-sign prompt in their account.

3. Investigating a change

Situation: A membership was cancelled and you want to know who did it.

Setup steps:

  1. Open Audit log and filter Actions to the membership actions, with a date range around when it happened.
  2. Find the entry and click it to see the actor, the member affected, and the before/after.
  3. Export with CSV if you need a record.

4. Moving from another platform

Situation: You're switching to ClassLift from MindBody and want to bring your members over.

Setup steps:

  1. Under Migration, choose MindBody, set a Grace window, and Start import.
  2. Upload your members CSV, Map columns, stage, and Preview to catch errors.
  3. Commit the valid rows, then repeat for memberships — members keep access while they re-authorize.

Tips for all studios

  • Make participation-gating waivers Required, and publish a new version whenever a change is legally meaningful.
  • The Audit log is your friend for "who changed this?" — filter by actor and date to zero in fast.
