Point of Sale

For: Owners, Managers & Front-desk Staff

The Point of Sale is your till — sell retail items, drop-ins, and packages, take payment however the customer pays, and see every sale in your transactions ledger. You build your catalog under Products, ring up sales under Point of Sale, and reconcile the money under Transactions.

Key Concepts

Concept Description
Product Something you sell at the till — a retail item, a drop-in, or a package. Products can have variants (like sizes) and optional inventory tracking, counted per location (and per variant).
Sale / transaction One checkout. Every sale is recorded, with its items, method, and total.
Payment method How the customer paid — Cash, Card (reader), Card (external terminal), Card on file, or Other.
Reader A Stripe card reader (card-present terminal) that ClassLift charges directly.
Settled vs recorded Card-on-file and reader payments are charged by Stripe; cash and external-terminal sales are recorded only — ClassLift logs them but moves no money.
Refund Returning money on a completed sale, in full or part. Only card-on-file and reader sales can be refunded through ClassLift.

How it works

  1. Add products to your catalog under Products.
  2. Ring up a sale at the Point of Sale — tap products into the cart and choose how the customer pays.
  3. Take payment — cash, a card on the reader, a card on file, or record an outside payment.
  4. It lands in Transactions — where you reconcile the day's takings and issue refunds.
